We have been extremely busy since the start of our 2013 season. One of the highlights so far was being asked to host Healey Drivers Club annual get together which was held over a long weekend and involved many different functions as well as guests arriving from all over the world.

It was a particularly special event being the 25th anniversary of the death of Donald Healey who of course was from Perranporth. 

One of the evenings involved a sit down dinner for 180 people and the event was enhanced by professional after dinner speaker Stuart Turner who is also a member of the club. His very witty speech brought much laughter and applause and the whole weekend culminated in a  farewell lunch and award ceremony on the final day.

A very big thankyou goes to Bill Cummings, Club Chairman and event organiser who sent us a very high praising letter of thanks which can be viewed at the end of this page.

So, the season continues and we are at present host to two coach parties as well as our many individual guests and looking forward to a busy Summer.

As promised our new large decking area and terrace is now open and being enjoyed for this half term week.

Looking better than we could have expected the views of course are spectacular and the sun has decided to arrive in time for us to make the most of this start to Summer.

All new for 2013 is our extensive terrace. Replacing the outdoor pool with a decking area directly overlooking the beach seemed to us to be the way forward this year.

Now nearly finished (May 2nd) the stunning views now available from both inside our residents cocktail bar and outside on the terrace itself have proved to us we have made the right decisions. The sunsets have always been breath taking and now you can have the pleasure of enjoying them even more with a sundowner or bar snakc at one of our outside tables.

This terrace will be available exclusively for our guests use and we look forward to your feedback over the coming season.

Peter Batchelor reaches a milestone birthday this Summer and we thought it would be a nice way to celebrate (amongst many others).

So, Summer 2013 is nearly upon us and we are busy doing more refurbs ready for the opening of the hotel on March 18th. Some of you may think we start at Easter but as we have always welcomed many coach parties from all over the U.K. this means our season is actually quite a long one!

Our public bar (Sunset bar for those who know us) is at this moment in time being painted and refurbed along with a super more updated menu for both residents of the hotel and visitors who drop by to enjoy the stunning views. We are also extending the Wi-Fi to this venue.

The hotel itself has not been left behind and as well as decorating certain areas we have also extended our facilities in other ways. But, we don't want to dwell on all this too much. What we hope to do this year is to make it an even more special one so that our many guests have the best possible vacation.

Easter Family Breaks

It has long been the tradition of the hotel to host a fun family Easter break. We like to think it is the one place in Cornwall that can offer you that little bit extra.

Of course the weather here in the U.K. is something that always has to be taken into consideration and no parent wants to be running around having to spend a fortune if the rain decides to fall.

It is that time of year yet again when we celebrate Scotlands favourite son.

Robbie or 'Rabbie' Burns suppers will be held the world over on this day the 25th January. Traditionally including a super of Haggis, Tatties and Neeps followed by a dram of whisky with renditions of a Robbie Burns poem. Favourites include Tam 'O' Shanter, A Red Red Rose, Ae Fond Kiss and Address to a Haggis. There are of course many many more to choose from.

Of course those of us who do not remember the poems will still be singing  his very famous Auld Lang Syne at the end of 2013!

So, we wish you a very happy Burns night from us all here.

After the success of our very first Psychic fayre last year we are pleased to welcome everyone back for this years event on the 2nd and 3rd of March followed by a workshop on the 4th March.

Many well known faces in the Psychic world will be appearing and there are free talks and demonstrations as well as evening entertainment on the Saturday.

We look forward to welcoming you all yet again this year for what is set to be an even busier event and will aim to ensure you have a very enjoyable few days with us here at the Ponsmere hotel.

Saturday and Sunday is our Mind, Body and Spirit fayre between 10am and 5pm with our Workshop day on Monday the 4th between 9am and 6pm.

We sincerely wish you a truly happy Christmas and New Year. Our thanks to all of you who have so often put your positive comments on Trip Advisor. We do so appreciate all the friends we have made over the years.

We will be spending Christmas with our families before re-opening the hotel for our annual  New Years party. One that lasts for three days no less!

Hi All

We are heading fast towards xmas but we still have another wedding party to cater for before the 25th.

As we are sure you all know we don't open for xmas anymore. With very busy Summer seasons and many functions that keep us busy all year round we feel we have definitely earnt a little down time with our families at this special time.

We are at present revamping our website and this will continue into 2013 but we will keep the site live and hope you continue to post your positive comments on Trip Advisor for us too

We have been having a short sabatical after a very busy season of 2012. After the main season as over it wasn't an immediate stop as you may think. We have since had a large wedding to cater for, our annual Cornish Euchre convention as well as other smaller functions. Add to this. putting preperations in place for our 3 day New Year break and you may realise we have not been exactly relaxing! It has long since been proven that many (ourselves included) don't want to be worrying about having to get baby sitters, paying double taxi fares, entrance into entertainment venus or bars, going out in the freezing cold or hosting your own party and having all the hassle of mess and washing up etc. on New Years day.

Arriving at the Ponsmere Hotel and being able to totaly relax and prepare for the best party ever without having to lift a finger (except to partake of one of our fine wines or beers) is just the perfect way to see in 2013. Don't forget out beauty parlour and hairdressers  are on hand and will do their best to accomodate your needs too.

We still have offers on some rooms and all details can be had by emailing or calling us.

Annual Presentation Dinner

We were really pleased to yet again host the annual presentation dinner last Saturday Two hundred and sixty people  including parents, teachers and youngsters enjoyed a three course meal in our dining room and then later joined us in the residents lounge for drinks and in many cases games of pool (just a little break from the cricket!).

It was mentioned by many of the staff here how well presented and, more importantly how well mannered all the youngsters were and it was a pleasure to welcome them to the hotel. 

This event has been held here for many years and we are only sorry that we could not get any photographs this time but as you can imagine it was a little busy with everyone employed at the hotel involved.

So, congratulations to all those who were presented with various trophies and we look forward to another successful evening next year here at the Ponsmere Hotel.

With the end of Summer 2012 only a mere few weeks away you still have time to join us for one of our annual festivals.

Sadly it is to be the last of our country ones as the organisers have decided the time has come to retire so it is with a tinge of sadness that everyone will be attending this time. The good news is however that it will be the biggest and best yet,  with many big names on the country music scene performing as well as much laughter, dancing and fun.

Following close on it's heels is the Lowender Peran annual celebrations. This has again become one of the biggest and best in Cornwall and last year set new records for ticket sales. We always enjoy having so many staying with us for the complete four days and of course everyone gets to enjoy not only the spectacular views over 3 miles of glorious beach but all the facilities of the hotel as well.

Well it has been an amazing Summer with lots of families choosing the Ponsmere for their annual family holiday. The children this year have been amazing. So polite and courteous and a pleasure to meet. All you parents should give yourselves a massive pat on the back for raising these kids so wonderfully. At a time when many youngsters get bad press we just felt the need to pass this on.

So, just now the hotel corridors are quiet, the bunk beds are empty and we are welcoming many regular coach parties back down to our beautiful village of Perranporth. September is always a lovely month and the sun is set to shine as is often the case after the kids are back at their desks!

Still to come is our Country festival (final one) and of course our very famous Lowender Perran festival which was sold out last year. We have many offers on between these events and before our final half term celebrations in October.

So. if a nice sunny quiet 3 miles of golden sands and the best facilities in Perranporth on offer in any hotel are to your liking why not give us a call?

Our outdoor pool has had alot of usage this last week as the sun has been shining so brightly, however a couple of weeks ago this was not the case and we had a little cold weather and even some rain.

This did not stop our hardy pair from enjoying a very refreshing dip and swim. Holly is aged 10 and Connor aged 7 and they come with mum and dad who have been visiting the Ponsmere since 1978 travelling down from Leicester.

We think we could have two future Olympic champions on our hands and just remember you saw them here first!

We have been awaiting the arrival of our new ballroom seating for some time now as the colour we wanted was not available at the time. However it is now all in place and awaiting the arrival of our many Summer guests.

Those who have been taking advantage of our Family Supersaver weeks made sure the first one of this season went with a bang. If you read our last blog you will know that every Friday is fancy dress night and although we usually expect this to be busier over the school holidays, this year mums and dads got into the spirit a little earlier and a fantastic time was had by not only the guests but by the staff as well.

The week had already been a great one with many familiar faces from previous years returning, but Friday it culminated in a night of partying and dancing followed by a midnight barbecue cooked and hosted by our resident compere Tony King.

This week we are also very busy although we have a few offers still to be had on some rooms so come down and join us at the one place you can guarantee you will have fun no matter what the weather!

Whitsun week was one of the busiest we have ever had and we wish to apologise to those who we just could not fit in to the hotel.

Lots of kids had a great time whilst the adults chilled out..that is until the Friday when many participated in our fancy dress. This year the bar staff have made a tremendous effort and intend to out-do our guests this Summer, so make sure you come prepared.

Our staff have worked very hard and it shows as we now boast a new excellence badge from Trip Advisor on the left front page! Thankyou so much to all our guests who have taken the trouble to write positive comments and please know we truly appreciate every one of them and hope you keep them coming!

Every year we try to update and refurbish as much of the hotel as is possible. This last season we have re designed our reception area and remodeled some of our en suite bathrooms. With an hotel this size we have an ever evolving project but we hope you agree with us that this time we have excelled ourselves!
